Lite n' Easy made it easy

Image
Just recently a housemate of mine sign up with Lite n' Easy meal plan, and I am there thinking why would you want to go on diet during winter? Also, the ultimate question of mine about Lite n' Easy meals gotta be whether it's any good. Personally, I wouldn't sign up for meal plans like this, as I'm much prefer planning my own meal. Due to some unforeseen reason (just travel back to the country, had nothing to eat in the fridge, I'm too darn hungry and it's too cold to get takeaway), I had a go at my housemates' one of her Lite n' Easy meal - The Beef Stroganoff. Just like any other frozen microwavable instant meal, all you have to do is just follow the said instruction, put into microwave for 9 mins and there you go! Forget about the aesthetic of the meal, it's microwaveable frozen food, they never look good. To be honest, I haven't had microwaveable frozen food for a long long time, it reminds me of my uni life as a poor student, where

Can you resists this?

Attended a class when I was in Malaysia, we were lucky enough to be able to try these cute little things made by an award winning French chef - Meilleur Ouvrier de France (M.O.F.) Jean-Francois Arnaud. He is the master in pastry, he also used to be a consultant and trainer for Romania Team in the Pastry World Cup ( Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie ). Apart from winning alot of other award, he is also consultant for numerous pastry institute in Europe. He often travels to Malaysia conduct a few pastry workshop at the French Culinary School in Asia, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) . Unfortunately for me, I didn't get the chance to attend the workshop, as it is way too expensive, but I was luck enough to attend another short classes while he was in the kitchen making these cute little bugger for a press confrence. And we get to try them during our tea break. Everyone in our class was stunned, especially the ladies with much of "wow, ooh, ahh, cutteee..." I can't help but get

Was going through my camera memory card as my external hard drive just corrupted recently :( only I realised i took a photo of this random scenario in Malaysia. Spotted all these sign in a mamak stall in Malaysia, my advise to all French people to avoid coming to Malaysia especially to mamak stall, as they would gladly dip you in oil and fried, not steam nor poach, but FRIED! LOL XD *No offence to any French people out there, please kindly take this as a joke.*

Bouchon Bistro, Wembley

Image
There are not many old school French food in Perth, not that I know of anyway, or perhaps they are just way too low profile, not alot of publicity given neither online review from bloggers. But friends around me told me that Bouchon Bistro does really good French food. Me n mate rock up to the restaurant without a reservation after did some late evening retail therapy, hoping that we'll get a table. Luckily for us, they are not that busy on a Thursday night. There are only 2 waitstaff and 1 chef working that night (took a peek into the kitchen through the little food pass window), was thinking that must be the owner as he is old enough to look well trained. Interior is simple, hanging lots of French related picture and maps on the wall, and best of all, testimonials from customers who has previously dined there was also published on the wall, most of the testimonial from the previous diner saying how much they appreciate the food and how much they enjoy the food, now that'

Self-heating can of latte?

Image
Mom bought something "rather interesting" for me the other day, thought that I might want to try. Yes, a can of self-heating latte! I've heard of self-heating instant noodle bowl from Japan and also self-heating teriyaki chicken but never tried it myself. I'm not sure how popular this self-heating latte is, obviously I've never heard of it as I thought it is way to easy to get a cup of coffee anywhere in the world, be it a good cup of espresso or a rather ordinary cup of filtered coffee or maybe just get a can of nescafe from the vending machinece near you, but you get the caffeine kick whenever you want it anyway. So, on this rather ordinary day, I finally took up the courage and try it! Read through the complicated sounding instruction given (not at all complicated anyway, just sounds intimidated), read through the warning sign given, it sounds dangerous to me to activate the can.  Ok, so frist, turn upside down, remove seal on base of can and press acti
