Kintamani, Yahava Coffee

A lot of my friend knows that i am a coffee addict, at least i know i am! The moment i know that I'll be travelling back to Malaysia, i know that i must bring some coffee back for my own consumption. My previous trip back to Malaysia, i was struggling with coffee, Malaysia does have their own kopitiam coffee, but i am not too keen on drinking that, not because it  looks like an Ah Pek's drink, but more because i much prefer espresso coffee. I have an espresso coffee machine back at my Perth home and also unlimited espresso coffee suply at work too! I am used to drinking 6 shots of espresso day, mix it up with a good textured milk, that's how i like to drink my coffee -  a cup of flat white. Ever since constant disappointment to get an almost perfect cup of flat white in Malaysia from my last trip, I've decided to bring home a packet of coffee bean and a coffee plunger (the closest i can get). Was trying my luck to get Epic Espresso, but they were close on the w

Shark Fin Mee Sua Tow, Restaurant Teow Chew Meng

Image
Ever heard of Mee Sua Tow (Chinese longevity fine noodle)? If i am not mistaken, this dish is originated from Bukit Mertajam or perhaps Penang, it's a Teow Chew delicacy. Today they have open up branches around Klang Valley area and also Penang. I went to their PJ branch for lunch yesterday, to try out this new dish. They are famous for their Shark Fin Mee Sua Tow, mee sua and shark fin cooked in clear siakap fish broth, to serve with a raw egg, some chinese mushroom, prawns and crab stick! Apart from that, they also have seafood porridge, tom yum soup with your own selection of seafood and other side dishes like seafood rolls, mango karabu and apple sald. We ordered their Shark Fin Mee Sua Tow, Oysters Noodles and Octopus to share between 2. If you are thinking eating dish like on a hot day, don't worry, their shop are fully air-conditioned and the place is very clean too. Efficient and friendly service, you don't feel threaten at all eating at this place. Shark F

Sao Nam, Tengkat Tong Shin

I was there with a group of 20pax, apparently the organiser was quite close with the owner, so they organised a set menu for us. I've heard of good comment about them, so i was very looking forward to try this fine Vietnamese restaurant.  The moment i was about to walk in to the restaurant, i felt in love with it. It was a fantastic idea transforming those old ancient looking heritage house into a restaurant. Warm ambient, cosy setting, friendly hospitality, makes you feel like you just walked into a random Vietnamese house in Vietname itself. We were then served with their special beverage - ginger and lime juice, it was pleasingly refreshing, especially on a hot day like this, i don't remember how many glasses i had, because the waitress keep topping me up.   starter of starters - A combination platter of deep-fried chicken spring rolls fresh prawn spring rolls, Beef "la lot" and shrimp on sugercane. The first dish that we were presented was the s

Red Herring, East Freo

Image
I'm sure most Perthians out there have been to The Left Bank Bar in East Freo, well Red Herring is just opposite the Lefty sits by the river. I do think they are pretty well known as a seafood restaurant in Fremantle area. Having only been there for the first time, I am quite happy with what i was given that night! Menu size was appropriate, if you are not a seafood eater, i will suggest you to go somewhere else, as their menu consists of almost 80% of seafood items, but they do have a vegetarian option on the menu. I am always bad in choosing what to have, because i am just this greedy little one that wanted to try everything! In the end, we started off with their special share entree plate for $28.50 per person! It is a bit expensive, but when it was presented in front of us, we were wowed by the portion size, and it comes in 2 tier, considering this was only the entree, this is huge! On the top tier, there are 4 very fresh salmon sushi, 4 freshly rolled california sushi
